Lian created a series of live animations illustrating the transition of artistic styles and the dynamic shifts in gender representation in computer science over time. These animations were featured in Changing Perspectives, an interactive website by Lian and Angela Bernabeo, that blends art, technology, and gender. The website presents a timeline of animated illustrations that dismantle the representation of the female body, paralleling the historical and ongoing dismantlement of the class of women workers by society and government. The Dream started off with three simple sketches. Lian worked her way up by focusing on the details to planning out how she wants different elements to look based on the mood she wanted to give off.
The Dream is a series of three scenes (Dream I, Dream II, Dream III) showing a common dream anyone could have been through. Through the use of photo images and 3D illustrations, The Dream brings the dream into consciousness crossing the lines between reality and fantasy to portray the world inside the mind where anything can happen. Dream I to Dream III depicts the same scene from a first-person to a third-person perspective. However, through each lens, the falling scene is altered slightly to show variability that occurs in dreams as well as in the real world. With no definite storyline like in a dream, The Dream is open to interpretation. The openness to interpretation intends to show our consciousness to look at a dream, that is likely a fantasy, but bringing it into reality before our eyes. The Dream questions the world we create in our dreams as an opportunity to reflect and explore the boundaries between reality and fantasy as well as your dream world:
What does the world in our dreams look like? (Mountains or building tops? Or is it so hard to recall where you were when you were falling in your dream?)
Are you the narrator or a bystander in your dream?

Type Face was inspired by handwritten typography Lian was obsessed with during the period. As Lian played around with the pen tool, she found ways to write different text in her own way - any size and shape. She had an idea to build objects out of words. Using Photoshop, Lian played with different lightings, and adjustment layers to create a series of three pieces, each giving of a different vibe, mood, and aesthetic. This project taught Lian how lighting and color play a crucial role in creating a great piece. She had a lot of fun creating it and submitted this project as one of her extra credit assignments.
